Doug Kahle, originally from Toledo, Ohio, has been residing in West Palm Beach, Florida since 2001. He spends virtually all of his weekends diving somewhere, usually Palm Beach County.
In June 2011, he logged his 1,100 dive, including dives in Australia, Hawaii (Kona and Kihei), Cozumel, Isla Mujeres, Curacao, Grand Cayman, Los Cabos, The Bahamas, St. Vincent, and, of course, across Florida.
Unfortunately, he has a real job (see www.schwedmcginley.com) and can travel only a couple weeks a year. Lately, most his travel has been to The Bahamas to photograph the sharks and dolphins aboard Jim Abernethy’s Shear Water (see www.scuba-adventures.com), and to the Cozumel area.
Upon his first dives, he was so amazed at the underwater world and its inhabitants that he was compelled to photograph it to share it with others. He likes to believe that others will be equally amazed at the beauty of the creatures that inhabit the ocean and, consequently, perhaps they will be motivated to stop killing and eating the ocean’s creatures.
All photos were taken with digital cameras; either the Canon 20D, 5D, or 5D Mark II. His standard wide-angle lens is the Canon 15 mm fisheye and the Canon 16-35 mm. All photos were shot in RAW mode; accordingly, all photos were edited to some degree — although, most photos were edited only slightly. The pics on this website are significantly compressed files and thus contain less than 5% of the pixels of the full sized files. Thus, some pics may appear distorted or of a lesser quality.
